There is nothing quite like the energy of a local market to bring a community together. Recently, Ashley from The Good Cup team, at the invitation from The Bakkie Barista, headed out to The Collective Market in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth),
The mission? To showcase how a simple switch in how we drink our daily brew can make a massive, positive impact on our planet.
Hands-On with The Bakkie Barista
One of the absolute highlights of the day was teaming up with the local legends at The Bakkie Barista. Marketgoers already love them for their incredible coffee, making them the perfect partner to demonstrate The Good Cup in action.
Ashley spent time behind the machine with the team, giving them a hands-on walkthrough of how our innovative, eco-friendly cups function. Seeing a busy local vendor embrace the design so seamlessly proved exactly what we’ve always believed: sustainable solutions don’t have to compromise convenience or speed.

Real Coffee. Real Feedback
Of course, a cup is nothing without the coffee lovers who hold it. To really put The Good Cup to the test, Ashley took to the market floor to chat directly with local residents.
We wanted raw, honest impressions. To get them, later in the day we surprised several marketgoers with a fresh, steaming cup of coffee – completely on us – served directly in The Good Cup.
The response was incredibly rewarding. As customers sat down to enjoy their brews, Ashley gathered feedback on everything from the cup’s feel and heat retention to its overall design. Hearing people express excitement about reducing single-use waste while enjoying their morning routine is exactly why we do what we do.

What’s Next for The Good Cup?
Our day at The Collective Market wasn’t just about sharing our vision; it was about listening. The feedback we received in PE confirms that the appetite for sustainable change is stronger than ever.
We want to extend a massive thank you to The Bakkie Barista for sharing their space with us, to our potential client for joining the journey, and to every single person who took a moment to chat, sip, and share their thoughts with Ashley.
The future of coffee is green, and judging by the incredible community in PE, we’re well on our way.
